Although Microsoft Access 97 has been replaced by Access 2000, Access XP/2002, Access 2003 and Access 2007, there are many organisations still using Access 97.
We provide support and development services to companies still using Access 97 as well as all later version of Access.
We also undertake upgrades from Access 97.
a) Companies for whom Access 97 meets their database requirements and who have no need or desire to upgrade
b) Companies who have made a considerable investment in Access 97 development and do not have the inclination to spend further on upgrading
c) Companies that have a large and complex IT infrastructure and are still using Office 97 due to the complexities, impact and cost involved in moving to the latest platforms.
We provide Access 97 support to companies in each of these categories.
These firms range from very small business with a handful of users, through to large international organisations with mission critical departmental databases on Access 97.
Staying on Access 97
If you intend to stay on Access 97 we can offer you:
- support for your Access 97 databases
- bespoke development
- troubleshooting existing systems
- performance enhancement
- database health checks
If you are thinking of upgrading to a later version of Microsoft Access we can advise on the implications and give you an idea as to the work and therefore the cost involved.
This varies considerably according to the size and complexity of the database and the extent to which you wish to take advantage of new features in the later versions of Access.
In many cases the upgrade process is relatively simple and can be undertaken for a few hundred pounds or less in the case of simple databases. We can provide a fixed price quote if required.
The main reasons for upgrading are as follows:
- Microsoft no longer support Access 97
- Performance and reliability are better in later versions of Access
- Later versions are much more powerful particularly when it comes to integrating with other office or Internet applications
- Development in later versions is generally quicker and therefore cheaper due to the additional functionality and improved user interface of the later versions
